Materials

Our available temperature sintering range and atmospheric controls allow us to process a vast variety of materials.  We produce components in both oxidizing and non-oxidizing formats.  Check out our range of materials or call us to request specific products manufactured from any ceramic including high purity powders.

Carbide Material from MillenniTek

Alumina

MillenniTEK manufactures high purity alumina components for the structural, insulator, and wear markets, as well as specialized components for the nuclear market.  Standard grades include 96% and 99.8% alumina that are uniaxially or isostatically-pressed, sintered, and precision machined to exacting standards.  Specialized grades include 99.8% alumina with and without boron carbide doping for neutron absorber applications.

Zirconia

Zirconium dioxide is a versatile material used in a broad range of applications from metal casting to dental implants. At room temperature ZrO2 exhibits a monoclinic crystal structure. It transitions to tetragonal and cubic when fired at higher temperatures. This can cause cracking during heating and cooling cycles, stresses often occurring during the cooling cycle. When zirconia is mixed with a small amount of some other types of oxides, the tetragonal and/or cubic phases are stabilized. Oxides that work well for this purpose include magnesium oxide (MgO), yttrium oxide (Y2O3, yttria), calcium oxide (CaO), and cerium(III) oxide (Ce2O3).

MillenniTEK manufactures components from a variety of stabilized zirconia’s depending on application and material specification requirements.

Carbides

MillenniTEK manufactures boron and silicon carbide components for the nuclear and wear markets.  Standard pressureless sintered grades range from 65% dense boron carbide for neutron absorber applications to near full density silicon carbide components for wear applications.

With the ability to HIP components to 100% dense, our carbides are perfect for many harsh environments.  Composites of B4C and SiC can be manufactured to achieve a high standard solution for ballistic applications

Fused Silica

MillenniTEK manufactures high purity alumina components for the structural, insulator, and wear markets, as well as specialized components for the nuclear market.  Standard grades include 96% and 99.8% alumina that are uniaxially or isostatically-pressed, sintered, and precision machined to exacting standards.  Specialized grades include 99.8% alumina with and without boron carbide doping for neutron absorber applications.
